Parents and schools make the best decisions for their students if they have the information they need. We need to know what types of things are happening in a student’s school and in their community. This helps families and schools know what to talk about so they can help their student navigate adolescence.
The Minnesota Student Survey (MSS) is the only comprehensive source of information on the experiences our young people in Minnesota face.
Confidential
MSS is completely anonymous and the data are confidential. The data cannot be tied back to students or their families.
Important
The MSS has provided insight into things affecting our young people since 1989. The MSS is the oldest student surveys in the nation.
Voluntary
The MSS is open to everyone to participate. Districts and schools can opt-out, including parents and students. Students can skip any question or stop at any point.
Local
The MSS is used by local prevention teams, community leaders, and schools to build effective programs and put resources where they are needed most.
